About Me

A little bit about me and my journey.

My Story & Journey

My journey to becoming a counsellor has been a unique and roundabout route. Initially, I trained at Harper Adams and practiced as a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor. However, my path shifted as I navigated the needs of my family.

I am married and have three children, all now teenagers, each with additional educational needs. Early in their education journey, it became apparent that I needed a flexible working pattern to support them effectively.

Having been passionate about riding and owning ponies and dogs from a young age, I combined my equine knowledge with my experience in special education needs to establish an Equine Therapeutic Interactions centre. This centre caters to young people with additional needs, offering therapeutic riding and equine-facilitated learning. This venture not only provided the flexibility my family needed but also allowed me to merge my passions and skills.

Through running the equine therapy sessions, I increasingly became aware of the challenges faced by schools and supporting adults who attended the sessions. They often used me as a form of walk-and-talk counselling, which inspired me to pursue formal qualifications in counselling.

I am now a fully trained and qualified Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) counsellor, holding professional qualifications and membership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Additionally, I maintain an up-to-date DBS certificate, enabling me to work safely with young and vulnerable individuals.

I take pride in working with a diverse range of clients and feel honored that individuals trust me with their personal stories as we navigate the therapeutic journey together. My professional qualifications and extensive experience ensure that I provide high-quality, empathetic, and effective counselling services.

Sessions are available from Monday to Saturday, both during the day and in the evenings, subject to availability. Please contact me to discuss your needs. I am happy to have a chat over the phone, or if email is more convenient, please feel free to reach out that way.
